Bathed in the blackened terrain of our wounded and poisoned landscape, this work is a dialogue with the intoxicated creatures that reside in its filth and decay. It channels and assimilates the chthonic currents of the land, surrendering to forces that corrode and mutate. It does not seek to purify or repel what is deeply uncomfortable but allows it to invade, possess, consume, and fester. Aspiring to a shamanic practice that journeys into undifferentiated darkness, the work seeks to dissolve the human—to fuse and confuse the boundaries between self and nonhuman otherness. It moves toward a state where all things leak and bleed into each other—where bodies and flesh, intermingled and wounded, are brought into resonance with the ambience.
