- This piece has two components: fixed points, to be played unaltered (i.e. Octaves and Chords), and medial notes (i.e. the notes between the fixed points) that may be altered by the performer at their discretion. The fixed points and their dynamics were determined through chance operations, while the medial notes were influenced by the unique tones and resonances of the piano. These medial notes may also be played at any tempo and rhythm, with the written notation serving only as a guide to spacing, rather than performance. Further, the medial notes are contained within the immediately preceding octave, and may not depart from this container until the next octave sounds. All sounds are below middle C, to accommodate the listening preferences of a certain cat.
