Traç III

Traç III is part of a cycle of short pieces written for a solo instrument, which focus on a specific musical or instrumental concept.

The main idea of Traç III is to create a musical structure that starts from a single stroke, without interruption, but that has different nuances. This stroke can be more linear, rounded, smooth, or with abrupt changes of direction, angular, irregular, erratic, of different thicknesses, intensities and chromatic qualities. Sometimes this stroke is briefly interrupted and becomes intermittent, but it always has a motoric quality that makes it continue until its final interruption. Another musical concept exploited is the compression of musical time through the rapidity of changes in parameters and musical discourse.

Traç III is written for solo violin for the Mixtur Festival in Barcelona 2024 and was premiered by the violinist Giovanna Sevi.
