songs of dying strings and broken plectrums (ii)

songs of dying strings and broken plectrums (ii) was composed in 2024 and premiered on

16.11.2024 during the concert “Apollo and Marsyas” at the Hashtag Lab Contemporary Music

Space in Warsaw. The main aim of the piece is the deconstruction of legible elements and idioms of

late medieval and Renaissance musical language through instrument preparations, resulting in a

distorted and detuned sound material. The piece explores possibilities of shaping contemporary

material for a duo of string instrument and piano, while its notation allows for a flexible navigation

through the musical material and encourages responsive interaction between the performers.
