Barreled space continues a compositional agenda of exploring 'polymorphism of environments' that I began in a solo bassoon piece I wrote in 2023, titled Nonmeagre. Like the solo bassoon piece, Barreled space is concerned with the breakdown of overly assertive forces. However, this ensemble piece is particularly concerned with traversing such breakdowns as a mechanism for continuation, as opposed to pure expiration.
