Trescientas Cincuenta Mil (350,000) is heavily inspired by the imagery and meaning of the poem ¿Cuántas estrellas tiene el cielo? by Venezuelan writer Andrés Eloy Blanco.
This piece combines contemporary diatonic writing with the traditional tendencies of Venezuelan Joropo and Merengue alongside a Latin-Jazz influence all over a constant shifting meter and later on a heavy usage of a specific hexachord with some whole tone scales added for taste.
The music aims to capture a cosmical feeling which is tied to the
meaning of the poem. advocating for the value of life and how each person should be immensely appreciated for who they are, as when we lose them, we lose a star in the sky, and with it, a whole world.
