Parallax Ga(s)p

Inspired by Slavoj Žižek’s The Parallax View, this piece explores the idea of irreconcilable perspectives—shifts in perception where no common ground exists. In astronomy, parallax describes the apparent displacement of an object when viewed from different angles; in philosophy, the fundamental gap is not merely a subjective difference in viewpoints but an inherent structural divide where no synthesis is possible. This composition translates these ideas into sound, emphasizing displacement, contradiction, and instability.

Musical material is fragmented, constantly shifting context and meaning. Instruments echo, distort, or interrupt each other, preventing any single perspective from fully stabilizing. Silence functions as a gap—an absence that reshapes the music’s form. Timbres collide, textures dissolve, and motifs remain elusive, revealing their full identity only through their displacement.
