Boholana is dedicated to my mother who is from the island of Bohol in the Philippines. This piece documents the different stages of her life, from her childhood in Bohol and going to college in the bustling city of Cebu, all the way to her journey as an immigrant to the United States in the 90s. This is a sound mural of all her hopes and dreams during all these different times in her life and serves as a testament to her strength and spirit. Her story is a reflection of the various aspects of immigration; the curiosity to explore the world, the fear and anxiety of moving away from all you know, the courage and strength it takes to keep going, and how all your experiences culminate into this unique identity of multiple cultures. This piece was premiered as a full orchestra piece at the Veneto Arts and Music Summit by the Marco Polo Orchestra in 2025.
