This composition reflects my journey with an eating disorder that nearly shattered my confidence and sense of self. In high school, I was severely overweight and felt a deep anger towards myself, my loved ones, and those who distanced themselves from me. The bullying I experienced was painful, yet too raw to recount fully. From being first in the cafeteria line to being last to finish the mile, I accepted the fact that I was a joke. This feeling spanned from the beginning of high school to the end of my bachelor’s degree. Last March, when visiting my family for spring break during college, I weighed much more than I did when I was in high school. One morning, my father woke me up and said the six words no child should ever hear from their parent: 'I don’t want to lose you.' Those words sent chills through me and sparked a long conversation about regaining control of my life. Since April 2024, I have lost over 150 pounds, and I reflect on that pivotal discussion every day. I am grateful for the guidance I received to navigate this challenging path that started long before my teenage years. Thank you, LoadBang, for providing me with this platform to share my story.
