Matachín by Keir GoGwilt

Program Notes

This is a microtonal matachín - a dance genre with transatlantic origins in Europe and the Americas. I put this piece together with my colleagues in the Zarabanda Variations. As you will see there is a lot of improvisation throughout - the written material was composed with these particular performers and their improvisatory idioms in mind.
