Higanbana (彼岸花)

Flowers for Nayjama is a bouquet of thirteen pieces for guitar that invites contemplation of various dances and rhythms. Each chosen flower is also a doorway to a particular soundscape, to a culture, to a sensibility.

Some pieces tell stories through traditional dances — such as the morenada, the tinku, or the son jarocho — while others lose themselves in the contemplation of a minimal, almost secret gesture.

As the spiritual epigraph of this sound garden, the voice of Fernando Diez de Medina resounds:

“Listen to the music of writing.

If it does not please you, forgive its errors; no one is obliged to get it right.

Do not dwell on the imperfections of its pages; rather consider the serene humility of its passage.

For if anyone loved his dwelling with the utmost passion, it was Nayjama, the Seeker.

Creature of the Andes. Star of its anguish and its hope.

And thus begins the book of Nayjama.”

This collection is also an offering, a quest, a bridge. A garden open to the ear.

Flores para Nayjama es un ramo de trece piezas para guitarra que invita a contemplar distintas danzas y ritmos. Cada flor elegida es también una puerta a un paisaje sonoro particular, a una cultura, a una sensibilidad. Algunas piezas narran a través de danzas tradicionales —como la morenada, el tinku o el son jarocho—, mientras que otras se pierden en la contemplación de un gesto mínimo, casi secreto. Como epígrafe espiritual de este jardín sonoro, resuena la voz de Fernando Diez de Medina:

“Escucha la música de la escritura.

Si no te place, disculpa sus yerros; nadie está obligado al acierto.

No repares en lo imperfecto de sus páginas, pensando la humildad serena de su tránsito.

Porque si alguien amó con pasión suma su morada, ese fue Nayjama, el Buscador.

Criatura del Ande. Estrella de su angustia y su esperanza.

Y así comienza el libro de Nayjama.”

Esta colección es, también, una ofrenda, una búsqueda, un puente. Un jardín abierto al oído.
