Interlude for Rainforest IV can be conceived as an interlude that can be performed in the middle of, separately, or simultaneously with David Tudor’s Rainforest IV. I am fascinated by Tudor’s concept of objects resonating independently and without force in space while creating an immense and beautiful soundscape; thus I have decided to write an interlude that also explores such idea with traditional acoustic instruments. The piece quotes briefly Henry Purcell’s “Dido’s Lament” from the opera Dido and Aeneas.
