"Lost in a Dream" is a piece for wind band that explores the want to return to a dream once you've been woken up. The lyrics written into the individual parts are not to be sung, but to help the performers understand the meaning of the piece. The piece explores two main sections, a slow first section and a fast second section. The slow section is meant to symbolize the lack of peace and feeling of unsettledness that is felt when waking from a dream that was not finished or was so good that you wish it were real. The second section explores both the feeling of discomfort knowing that you must face reality again, as well as the wonder that good dreams give you that you feel any time you think of those dreams. This piece has a handful of solos and can hopefully be related to by both the performers as well as the audience.
