As a reflection on Cass Alabaster's "a fantasia on existence", I composed two pieces to act as opening and closing movements to their piece, incorporating extended techniques, alleatoric writing, and extended harmonies.
This first movement explores the violence and beauty of birth, gradually unfolding and blooming in stops and starts.
Recorded as part of the CoMA festival, in QMUL's The Octagon. Videography by Chris Adams.
