Plunk

Inspired by a short piece I wrote with Dorico about a year ago, this piece is a silly, playful piece I wrote for string quintet inspired by the style of Leroy Anderson. On top of only utilizing pizzicato, there are two extended techniques used in the piece. First of which is snap pizzicato, created by plucking the string vertically, hitting the fingerboard. Second is "slurred pizzicato", where the player plucks the pitch of the written grace note pitch, and then quickly fingers the second written pitch.
