This piece is a sort of character study of three objects that have sat in the same spot in my childhood bedroom for around 10-15 years. The first is a collection of sands gifted to me by my grandparents from Bahrain, encased in glass so that I could tilt the sands and watch the colors and textures of the different varieties mesh through each other. Second is a box of interconnected gears that all rotate at different speeds when I turn one of them. Last is a Lego model airplane that has been rearranged many, many times, as pieces fall off and get replaced or put back slightly differently, creating a new configuration each time while still maintaining its original identity.
