The narrative of this piece takes place many centuries before the story of Hercules defeating the Hydra. One day, a ship out at sea is attacked by the Hydra, and the crew quickly scrambles to arm and fire a torpedo at the beast, knocking one of its heads clean off and causing it to reel back. For a moment all is silent, before the monster rears back up, with two heads in place of the original one, and heaves itself onto the ship, dragging it and its crew down to a watery grave.
