Deepwater Horizon

Deepwater Horizon is a meditation on the catastrophic consequences of human indifference toward nature. Taking the titular 2010 oil spill as a case study, the work seeks to personify each of the actors involved—the corporation that cut corners for the sake of profit, the workers simply doing their jobs, the marine ecosystems destroyed by the disaster, and the international outcry sparked by the event. The disaster offers a specific lens to examine a more universal theme of human progress at the cost of the natural world we inhabit.
