Roseaux Parfumés

Roseaux Parfumés is a piano quintet written for the International Music Composition Festival 2024, which was organized by the Department of Music Composition at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta. The composition arises from an introspective desire: to translate the experience of a wandering mind, which is restless, associative, and suspended between presence and memory. The title itself, which refers to scented reeds, is a metaphor for a fragrance that lingers in a room while simultaneously wafting through time. In this composition, musical ideas function in a similar manner: they emerge, dissipate, and reappear in different guises, such that a fluid sense of temporal flow is achieved.
