My piece is called "Epithalamia" for soprano, lyre and live electronics. It is an attempt to reproduce a spiritual seance with the Greek poet Sappho. For the textual basis I take a collage of the existing lines of her poems - mainly wedding poems - epithalamia. In the hands of the vocalist is an out-of-tune 16-string lyre, the part stipulates a visual-performative aspect - the vocalist will move in the plasticity of antique statues. Live electronics, consisting of delays, harmonizers and glitches are results of a desire to create a sound space for this "seance".
