why do they call it oven (when you of in the cold food of out hot eat the food) was one of six new works written for the clarinettist Heather Roche by composition students at the Royal Northern College of Music. This piece explores the state of contemporary Internet culture, particularly in relation to how short-form/brainrot content can impact peoples' attention spans. As such, there are plenty of references to memes, trends and other viral phenomena strung together in a dense, sometimes overwhelming collage of phrases and soundbites, culminating in the clarinettist ditching their instrument altogether and walking offstage whilst scrolling on their phone.
