Slough II is a piece for snare drum, ensemble, and electronics, born from the desire to explore new timbral possibilities of the Snare Drum. Moving away from its traditional percussive role, the snare drum is here transformed into a medium capable of producing pitched sounds through the use of a vibrating object placed on the drumhead. The interaction with electronics and the ensemble amplifies this transformation, redefining the sonic identity of the instrument.
