4 ETUDES for Piano

I consider these 4 piano etudes as my diary written during the last four months of 2022. I briefly wrote down my ideas about what I saw, heard, and felt.

I. Eternal Dream

I met my mother in my dream. Since I realized that I was just dreaming, I hoped that the dream would last eternally.

II. In the Green

I made tall chords like tall trees, and sometimes the notes make clusters like leaves of branches. Also, there are a lot of kinds of chords with different colors as if leaves have numerous spectra of green colors.

III. Scherzo

When I was planning to compose this movement as a scherzo, Korean traditional

rhythm came to my mind. I made a combination of Ut-Mori, Gut-Geori, and Sae-

Machi rhythms.

IV. The Fortress of Würzburg

I experienced a bell moment at the top of Marienberg Fortress, in Germany. The

sounds of dozens of bells from churches pouring their ringing sounds and making

echoes, blended with surrounding environmental sounds from wind, leaves, birds, and people. I was completely overwhelmed by these innocent beings.
