This work originated during a period of lockdown without access to percussion instruments, through the exploration of a new instrument: the piano bench. With its varying heights and sounds, it inspired the composer to create this piece based on the flamenco palo soleá. Through different variations and other elements of flamenco, the work evolves from a minimal gesture into small written improvisations that can be performed in a theatrical manner.
It was recomposed in 2024 for the RiberAlz festival, specifically for the ensemble Pan-ku Grup de Percussió. In this version, the benches are replaced by cajóns. Later, two palmeros and guitar were added.
Recorded in Genis Ibáñez Studios - 04/08/2026
