Keyboard Program Note - Nord Stage 3
The name of the program is Opera Run, and should be downloaded to one of the Nord Stage 3's empty sound banks using the Nord Sound Manager software.
Panel A consists of the piano instrument. Panel B consists of the organ instrument B3 and the synthesizer instrument. All the parameters are already programmed. However it is possible for the performer to adjust the volumes of the different instruments if he wishes.
There are two pedals, a sustain pedal and a Yamaha FC7 type control pedal. The sustain pedal goes into the sustain pedal input and the control pedal goes into the control pedal
input on the back of the keyboard.
The Yamaha foot control is used to control the function of the “rotary speaker” represented by this symbol from closed to open and vice versa from open to close.
Use the rotary speaker pedal in an expressive way by varying the intensity between SLOW/STOP mode and FAST mode.
The text is a language of invented syllables chosen for their sound. Here are the different syllables that must be pronounced in English: Bra, Cher, Ci, Don, Fa, Goh, Joh, Ki, Kom, Lu, Na, Oo, Prey, Te, Toh, Voh. Singers also have the option of inventing or arranging another way to articulate these syllables if they so desire.
The score can also be played on the piano, at this time, disregard the pedal signs for the
rotary speaker.
There is also a version for all sorts of acoustic or electronic keyboards which can be played as a whole work by itself.
The Nord Stage 3 keyboard program and score are available for download at the Canadian Music Center or by contacting the composer at the following email address, ric.desilets@gmail.com
