Program Note - Keyboard Nord Stage 3
The name of the program is Le tambour magic, and should be downloaded to one of the Nord Stage 3's empty sound banks using the Nord Sound Manager software.
The keyboard is divided into three zones or splits. Panel A consists of the piano instrument with delay, and the synthesizer-sampler
instrument with sampled children's voices and percussion instruments. Panel B consists of the Farfisa organ instrument and the synthesizer-sampler instrument with Fender bass sounds.
All the parameters are already programmed. However it is possible for the performer to adjust the volumes of the different instruments if he wishes. But we always have to bring out the samples of the voices. The samples of voices and percussion instruments are triggered by a musical note represented by a square or a triangle in the score. Samples are sensitive to dynamics.
It is very important to respect the duration of the notes and the punctuation like the staccato notes since the duration of the sampled notes have a direct effect on the duration of the samples.
You need a sustain type pedal that goes into the sustain pedal input.
There is also a score available in regular notes which can be used to make the version for the Nord Stage 3 easier to read. This regular version can also be used for any kind of acoustic or electronic keyboards by itself as a whole work.
The Nord Stage 3 keyboard program and score are available for download at the Canadian Music Center or by contacting the composer at the following email address, ric.desilets@gmail.com
