
Galician proverbs strike me as an inexhaustible source of folk wisdom and inspiration, brimming with subtleties that are difficult to translate, such as the characteristic expressions "morriña" (longing for home) and "retranca" (a dry wit). This piece for nonet consists of three main movements, each titled with a proverb, connected by two brief interludes.
