The piece explores the different modes of existence of a musical work in general. Its realization in the physical world is only one stage. In reality, the piece truly begins the moment it is conceived, and it never really ends: it becomes memory, for each listener who was present on the day of the concert. Each person, then, will form their own idea of it, shaped by the distortions inherent in thought and in the words we use to tell it to ourselves.
