A Dream in Chaos

“A Dream in Chaos” is a composition for a large chamber ensemble that explores a rich variety of moods, textures, and moments of complexity. Drawing inspiration from Salvador Dalí’s iconic

painting Daddy Long Legs of the Evening-Hope!, the piece translates the surrealist language of Dalí’s work into a sonic landscape. The composition unfolds through a series of sections, each

reflecting a different emotional or atmospheric shift. Among these, the central "War" section stands out as the most direct interpretation of Dalí's vision, capturing the intensity and underlying

themes of the painting. In creating this work, I sought to evoke the surreal and dreamlike quality inherent in Dalí's art, particularly his exploration of the subconscious. The piece aims to mirror

the way some of Dalí's paintings were inspired by dreams he experienced during his sleep, embodying the fragmented, often chaotic nature of these visions. Through shifting tonalities, textures,

and dramatic contrasts, A Dream in Chaos strives to communicate the powerful emotional and psychological resonance that Dalí’s artwork invokes, offering listeners a musical reflection of the

dreamlike, often surreal experience conveyed in his paintings.
