The idea for this piece came from Angel’s Landing located in Zion National Park.
My main goal while composing this piece was to write music about what it would feel like to be on top of the world, how it would feel to look down at the rest of the world from a point of view not many
have experienced, and to look up at a natural formation that is truly larger than life.
This piece consists of four sections-
Looking Upward
The Climb
Vertigo
Summit Perspective
Each of these sections explore a different part of the journey to “the summit,” and truly represent the feeling of finally seeing the world from and with a new perspective.
The Monolith- Angel's Landing was recorded by a trio of graduate students at Penn State University.
