Arrangements

Arrangements was a quasi-performative project in which the composer stood outside a music academy and asked randomly passing students whether they would like to play a modern, aleatoric piece. This method of deciding what instruments need to be used resulted in a rather unorthodox ensemble that included a theorbist with experience in early music, as well as a music therapist (piano, ukulele, small percussion instruments). The philosophy that states that instrumentation informs the form seemed to resonate deeply in this project, as this ensemble forced the composer to figure out the most efficient way to create a coherent piece out of contradictory material.
