The Sludge Dirge

The Sludge Dirge was written in the summer of 2023 and has two significant purposes. The first is about traumatic experiences that have been bottled up and ignored for significant periods of time, only for this trauma to inevitably hit with such devastation. The dirge gives these ugly, disgusting experiences and thoughts their final funeral to accept and overcome what has happened, ultimately being free from these haunting memories.

The dirge also pays homage to doom metal and sludge metal, two heavy metal genres known for slower tempos, lower registers, and guttural, distorted sound effects.
