Musical Face: Joselyne Mariotti

Musical Face: Joselyne Mariotti is part of an ongoing series of “drawing-scores” created by sketching portraits of musician friends directly onto a musical stave. Each portrait is then partially erased, leaving only dots, lines, and traces that hint at both facial features and musical notation.

In this piece, the erased portrait of violinist Joselyne Mariotti becomes a graphic score — a visual echo of her presence, open to interpretation and sound. The work invites performers to translate visual gestures into music, turning what once was a face into a score that can be heard.
