ECSTASY AND INERTIA

Ecstasy and Inertia explores the dissolution of reality through a sonic interplay between presence and simulation. Drawing inspiration from Baudrillard’s notions of hyperreality, the piece crafts a world where perception floats between authenticity and illusion. Piano, violin, and cello produce a landscape where gestures are both enhanced and hollowed, constantly shifting between excess and entropy. This tension evokes a musical simulacrum: an ecstatic collapse where reality implodes under its own proliferation of signs, leaving behind a fragile, shimmering inertia.

Ecstasy and Inertia earned First Prize at the 35th International Competition Città di Barletta in Italy (2025).
