1987

“1987” arises from my interest in exploring the distinctive sonorities of trombone, violin, and piano. While improvisation plays a significant role, the work is guided by a framework of clearly defined gestures that invite the performers to engage with the material and unfold it into a sequence of events focused on the interplay of timbre and texture. The title also refers to the year of my birth, and much of the piece’s character is informed by reflections surrounding my thirtieth birthday.
