«Arka» is archaic and primal, reaching back to the memories of
the spirit of freedom in the Carpathian mountains, landscapes that
take your breath away and a place where every stone holds a
story.
The sound of the trembita echoes through small bells ringing in a
flock of sheep, and rain gathers, bringing storms and lightning to
the mountains. Would an old tree perfectly split in half by
lightning become a trembita, sounding in the hands of the Hutsul
folks signaling a birth, wedding, or the funeral of a hero?
Trembita is a type of an alpine horn made of wood. It was
common among Ukrainian highlander Hutsuls who live
in western Ukraine.
