'This Face Now Here' is a musical prayer/ meditation for three people, beginning with the pace of slow breathing. As the piece moves on, disruptions and fleeting emotions begin to appear, warping the breath until particular narratives take hold, including scenes which unfold linearly as well as pointillistically. The title represents less of a meaningful phrase and more of a collection of four separate words which invite an appreciation of the present. Chorale textures dominate the work, with a ghostly reference to almost-Baroque harmonies in D minor at the end.
