CALCO (Tocco)

CALCO (Tocco) marks the beginning of an exploration into the possibilities of the zither, an instrument I came into contact with in 2024. Through it, I discovered a vast universe of timbres, which I decided to crystallize into compositions. In this work, the focus is on a frenetic dialogue between a slider, an air chamber, and wooden sticks — three tools through which the performer explores and navigates within the intricate map that is the instrument itself.

Premiered by Elio Marchesini (Divertimento Ensemble) in June 2025, within the WeekIDEA festival in Fabbrica del Vapore, Milan (IT). Performed by Alberto Anhaus within the Darmstädter Ferienkurse 2025. Studio version performed by Giovanni Falascone.
