Written over the Dallas snowstorm of February 2022, this was my first attempt at writing a longer single-movement work. With the concept of flowing water in mind, I tried to embody a highly minimalistic A section with a more romantic B section, contrasting feelings of fast flowing waterfalls with serene rivers and lakes. I used a variety of different techniques to cohere the marimbas throughout the piece. I use staggered entrances to create a live delay sound, and hocketing phrases that create a composite melody between the instruments.
