The Ygramul Études were conceived to explore different ways to write and therefore sync a performance with a single continuous tape. In this first étude, the only instructions come in the form of simple timestamps, and thus the performer has to adjust his performance accordingly, using mainly improvisatory measures to shorten or lengthen each section.
The title of the étude series comes from a character in Michael Ende's Neverending Story. Ygramul is a malevolent shapeshifting being made from a myriad of tiny metallic insect-like creatures. A sort of hive-mind that changes form depending on it's current desires and motivations.
