My girlfriend, Mara Keller, asked me to compose a piece of music that captures her journey studying abroad through Miami University and Project Dragonfly at the Vermilion Sea Institute in Baja Mexico.
In this program, the 62nd Baja group explored the vast landscape of Bahía de los Ángeles while conducting important research for Marine life conservation. Through their vast work with human and marine communities, they used tools such as point sampling, quadrat studies, and line transects to generate reliable information and promote informed action.
Mara is very passioante about protecting our ocean creatures, so this piece is specificaly geared towards her reaction to seeing and snorkling with a whaleshark for the first time in the wild. The photo you see on the cover is a picture she took on her trip.
