In Realms of Passing Dreams

In Realms of Passing Dreams (2020) was composed for solo guitar and five pre-recorded guitars, with the option of performing the piece with either the pre-recorded tracks or the five spatialized accompanying live guitars. The question of why we dream has fascinated philosophers and scientists for thousands of years. Sigmund Freud described dreams as "disguised fulfillments of repressed wishes." He discussed two different components of dreams: manifest content - the actual literal content and storyline of the dream, and latent content - the symbolic meaning of a dream which lies behind the literal content of the dream. The goal of the piece is to guide the listener through various layers of passing dreams - traversing through sonic landscapes within conscious and subconscious territory.
