The piece was composed in August 2025, commissioned by the 5th Festival of Young Music in Toruń, and was premiered at the festival’s opening concert by the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of the Polish Radio conducted by Anna Duczmal-Mróz. From the very beginning, it establishes a dark, fairy-tale-like atmosphere. Ostinato motifs in each section develop gradually and, over time, intertwine to form the melody of the well-known Kashubian song Kaszëbsczé nótë, which weaves polyphonically through different voices, like a counting rhyme sung alternately by a group of children. By employing modal elements, introducing microtonal structures, and juxtaposing them with “pure”, tonal chords, the composer creates the impression of a slight “detuning” of the orchestra, evoking the characteristic sound of a traditional folk ensemble.
