- The Hydra is based on the Greek mythological beast. Story goes, every time you cut off the hydra’s head, two more grow back in its place. The Hydra is a rondo using one central main theme and three supporting themes. Every time a new theme is introduced, it must be combined with the other themes, just like as a hydra’s head is cut off and more replace it. Only after all four themes have been exposed and played one final time as a fugue, is our hero finally allowed to conquer the beast, and slay the hydra. Please enjoy The Hydra.
