Sky Fragments for string quartet
I. Stargaze
From one summer night when the darkness has covered the ground, I looked up the sky while walking down the path. My whole sight was filled with the jet black night sky. Suddenly one star skimmed over my eyes. Then I realized another star was shining next to the first star. And eventually, the night sky with countless stars was revealed. My eyes were completely locked, and I stood there looking up for a long time without making a single move. Whenever I perceive the star from the black background, I felt like the stars were talking to me. Stargaze is a story that I have heard from the infinite numbers of stars that night. It is about the adventure of stars’ whispering, giggling, and flying through the boundless stream of space.
II. Skyline
What makes your normal day special in the easiest way?
On a sunny summer day, walking down the street feeling the heat of the sunlight. When I subconsciously look up on the sky, my day suddenly becomes brighter, like the light bulb is on. Looking at the bright sunshine passing through the peacefully flowing clouds, and the endless altitude of sky layered in different luminosity of blue. I wanted to share my emotional state containing my healing experience to myself. The music flows from the state where I notice that the daylight is around me, and where I gradually enters into my unconscious thoughts from the awareness of the reality. Even though the sky is always there over your head, it is hard to feel it 24/7. Skyline aims to give the audiences a time to appreciate the small, unconsidered yet special, meaningful things in your lives.
