- Two Little Boys & a Rainbow Umbrella captures the playfulness of children walking to school in the rain. I was walking two little boys to school, who decided to share a big rainbow umbrella to keep out of the rain. One exclaimed “once upon a time, there were two little boys and a rainbow umbrella,” which inspired the composition of this piece. I utilised timbral nuances of different registers and writing techniques (melodic and chordal) to represent the pattering of the rain on the umbrella, and the children playing in the puddles on their walk to school.
