- While visiting Seoul Korea I became fascinated with the efforts to combat climate change which led me to create a piece that had practicality (in terms of how this piece could be performed on
the street, in a hotel room or in a concert hall), functionality (in regards to how I’ve notated the musical information) & sustainability (using resources one could find while traveling, or living in most non rural areas - minus the hydrophone).
The hydrophone itself has a focus on our environment. We o en create music that in turn promotes manufacturing or the creation of something else in general.
The hydrophone is the only element needed for this piece that was bought by myself. The coins were found on the floor while walking around Hongdae. The chopsticks were found while walking in Myeongdong & the marbles itself were a gift from a stranger who was handing them out in Nowon. The glasses were borrowed & the water was free (although not true for everyone).
Above all else, I encourage individuals to at least once indulge in sonic exploration that promotes accessibility & sustainability.
