“They are like ghost homes, but they also lack the ghosts…”
“Gray liminality” is a solo piano piece that captures the concept of “liminality”. This term, often associated with the internet aesthetic mostly known for the eerie stories, videos, photos and games set in the Backrooms, is the spatial equivalent of the uncanny valley. Characterized by the sceneries of repeating hallways, desolate hotel rooms, empty pool areas, dead shopping malls which lack architectural logic, integrity and reason, create a sense of impermanence, timelessness and emptiness. The places are abandoned, stripped, and shrouded in darkness, yet stand like time has never passed. Everything remains precisely as it was, suspended in an eternal stillness.
