- Program Notes
- For string orchestra (12 solo string players).
Duration: ca. 12′.
A few words about the work:
This piece is for 12 solo strings and grows over the course of 12 minutes.
It starts and ends in white noise but as it unfolds, it grows and develops with different types of textures and musical shapes. In this piece I explored the concept of timbre that acted as a starting point for creating raw compositional material. I tried to depict the very essence that lies behind the idea of the piece through the combination of different melodic lines, instrumental colors and contemporary extended techniques as well as timbral effects.
The title of the piece “No rain, no flowers” is a very inspiring phrase for me during challenging times as it helps me realize that just like a flower can blossom after a storm so does the human psyche after a struggle and difficulties. We can grow, change and progress, beautiful things can come out of obstacles and hard times, just like the flowers after a storm.
