This work for percussion trio with live electronics explores sound-making gestures performed with vegetal and mineral materials on percussion instruments. Engaging with ecofeminist approaches to storytelling, exchanges of vegetal species across northern and southern hemispheres are sonically explored, placing corn grains, pine cones and rocks as the protagonists of the story being told, which is a non-anthropocentric one. The piece offers a way of telling life stories as proposed by Ursula Le Guin, stories in which every (human, vegetal, technical) component of a multifaceted ecology matters aurally, visually, and meaningfully. Through embodied gestures and live electronics processes, the sonic textures of organic elements are combined with the timbre of different drums to create new sounds, while examining the entanglement of social and environmental processes.
